Liverpool ready to go all in for Bayer Leverkusen’s super defender

Liverpool are reportedly stepping up their efforts to secure Bayer Leverkusen’s Piero Hincapie, aiming to outmaneuver both Tottenham Hotspur and Atletico Madrid in the pursuit of the talented defender. The club has identified Hincapie as a key player who could strengthen their defense for the foreseeable future.

Sporting director Richard Hughes initially targeted Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi as the first new signing of the Arne Slot era. However, with Zubimendi opting to stay in Spain, Liverpool’s attention has turned to securing a new center-back and a wide player. Reports suggest that Atalanta’s Ademola Lookman is also on their radar, with the club considering a bold move for the former Everton winger.

Fresh reports from Spain indicate that Liverpool have made Hincapie their top defensive target. The club has been monitoring his progress for several months and is keen to bring him to Anfield. Despite Xabi Alonso’s desire to keep the Ecuadorian at Leverkusen, Liverpool is confident they can convince the Bundesliga side to sell, especially if they apply the right pressure.

With a price tag of €60 million (£51.1 million), Hincapie could be a long-term successor to Virgil van Dijk, solidifying Liverpool’s defense for years to come.

Liverpool is also keeping an eye on Sporting CP’s Goncalo Inacio as another option, though Hincapie appears to be the preferred choice. As the transfer window draws to a close, Liverpool fans will be watching closely to see if the club can secure the signing of the highly-rated defender.
