OFFICIAL. This is the decision of Zubimendi to join Liverpool

Martin Zubimendi has decided to stay with Real Sociedad, turning down a potential transfer to Liverpool. The 25-year-old midfielder’s decision was confirmed on Monday evening when he informed Liverpool’s sporting director, Richard Hughes, that he would not be making the £51 million move to Anfield.

According to Spanish journalist Jorge Picon, Zubimendi had initially given Liverpool the green light for the transfer just two weeks prior. However, in a move reminiscent of Steven Gerrard’s famous decision to reject Chelsea in 2005, Zubimendi ultimately chose to remain loyal to his boyhood club.

Zubimendi’s deep connection to Real Sociedad, his hometown team, played a significant role in his decision.

This isn’t the first time the midfielder has turned down offers from major clubs, having previously rejected moves to both Arsenal and Bayern Munich. For now, his commitment to Real Sociedad remains unwavering.
