Tottenham will need to be innovative in their approach if they wish to secure Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke. The Cherries are adamant that the 26-year-old will only leave Vitality Stadium this summer if his £65 million release clause is met, a clause reportedly triggered only by specific clubs.
It’s unlikely that Tottenham will be willing to set a new club record with such a significant cash outlay. However, if they are serious about acquiring Solanke, they might consider a creative approach, such as including players in a potential swap deal to approximate the hefty fee.
Solanke, an England international, netted 19 Premier League goals last season and has also attracted interest from his former club Chelsea. Bournemouth, under the management of Andoni Iraola, have been aware that Solanke’s impressive performance, with 21 goals in all competitions, would draw interest from other clubs.
Adding to the complexity, Liverpool stands to receive a 20% cut of any profit Bournemouth makes from a future transfer of Solanke, which could further challenge Tottenham’s pursuit.
Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou acknowledged earlier this week that the club is prioritizing the acquisition of a new striker, underlining the urgency in their transfer strategy.
