One of Liverpool’s key players from their 2019/20 Premier League-winning squad, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, might be making a surprise return to English football this summer.
According to reports from Turkish outlet Sabah, Besiktas are considering selling Oxlade-Chamberlain if they receive an acceptable offer, as the club has decided not to continue with the 30-year-old midfielder.
Oxlade-Chamberlain, who left Liverpool on a free transfer just a year ago, is reportedly open to the idea of returning to his homeland. Sheffield United have expressed interest in bringing him back to the Premier League during the off-season.
During his time at Liverpool, Oxlade-Chamberlain had several standout performances, particularly in two memorable victories over Manchester City in the 2017/18 season. However, recurring injuries prevented him from consistently showcasing his talents under Jurgen Klopp.
In Liverpool’s 2019/20 title-winning season, Oxlade-Chamberlain scored four goals, a tally he replicated with Besiktas in the 2023/24 campaign. Despite his contributions, a torn thigh muscle sidelined him for four months, leading Besiktas to consider parting ways with him after just one year at the club.
Oxlade-Chamberlain’s potential return to English football could provide a fresh start and an opportunity for him to once again make his mark in the Premier League.
