Liverpool appears to be edging closer to securing the services of Georgian goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili from Valencia, according to renowned transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
Romano revealed that while personal terms have been agreed upon with Mamardashvili, negotiations between Liverpool and Valencia are still in progress, with no final deal in place just yet. The transfer fee for the 22-year-old shot-stopper is anticipated to be around €30 million.
Mamardashvili, who is contracted with Valencia until 2027, had an impressive season last year, featuring in 32 matches and achieving 12 clean sheets while conceding 34 goals in the process. His market value, according to Transfermarkt, stands at a notable €45 million.
During Euro 2024, Mamardashvili further showcased his talent by making 30 saves, coming close to the record of 32 saves set by former Russian goalkeeper Igor Akinfeev at Euro 2008. His rising stock in the football world is reflected in his status as one of the most highly valued goalkeepers on Transfermarkt.
