Former Liverpool striker joins Tottenham for £65M

Tottenham Hotspur are on the verge of securing the signing of Dominic Solanke from Bournemouth, with a reported fee of £65 million agreed between the two clubs. The deal, which has generated significant buzz, marks a major move for Spurs as they look to strengthen their attacking options.

Solanke, 26, is coming off the back of his most successful season yet, having scored 19 goals during the 2023/24 campaign, helping Bournemouth secure a respectable 12th-place finish in the Premier League. The striker’s journey began at Chelsea, where he was touted as one of the most promising young forwards, before moving to Liverpool in 2017. However, his time at Anfield didn’t go as planned, and he eventually found a new home at Bournemouth for a fee of around £19 million.

Since joining the Cherries, Solanke has become a key player, notching up 77 goals and 31 assists in 216 appearances. Last season was particularly standout, as he hit 19 goals in 38 Premier League games, far surpassing his previous best in the top flight. His form has evidently caught the eye of Tottenham, who have been linked with the striker throughout the week.

According to reports, Solanke has expressed his desire to make the switch to north London, and the transfer is now in its final stages. Journalist Sami Mokbel was among the first to break the news, sharing on X (formerly Twitter) that a deal had been reached, with the player set to undergo a medical. Since then, prominent sources like David Ornstein and Fabrizio Romano have confirmed the details, with Romano famously giving the transfer his “here we go” stamp of approval.

With the fee and personal terms agreed, Solanke is poised to become Tottenham’s latest addition, as the club prepares for a new era with this significant investment in their forward line.
