Liverpool star has suffered a big injury that will leave him out for 2 months

The new season hasn’t even kicked off, and Liverpool is already grappling with the all-too-familiar issue of injuries disrupting their plans.

Jurgen Klopp’s final year at Anfield was marred by a string of injuries to key players, a pattern that seems to be haunting the club yet again. This time, it’s young talent Jayden Danns who finds himself on the wrong side of fortune.

As reported by Liverpool insider David Lynch in his Substack column, the 18-year-old forward has been sidelined until October with a back injury. This setback has not only forced him to miss Liverpool’s pre-season tour in the United States but has also derailed the club’s plans to loan him out for the 2024/25 campaign.

The timing couldn’t have been worse for Danns. He missed the chance to impress new manager Arne Slot during pre-season, an opportunity that could have significantly boosted his prospects for the coming season. Earlier this year, Danns was thrust into Liverpool’s senior squad amid an injury crisis, making a memorable debut, featuring in the Carabao Cup final, and scoring twice in an FA Cup victory over Southampton. It was a whirlwind introduction to top-level football, and his performance suggested he was ready for more.

Had he been fit, Danns would have likely seen substantial playing time during the U.S. tour, with Slot keen to assess the club’s young talents. Instead, the teenager is left to rue his misfortune, knowing that this injury has robbed him of a critical stage in his progression.

For now, the focus must be on recovery. If all goes well, there’s hope that come the winter transfer window, Danns can secure a loan move where he’ll get the game time needed to continue his promising development at Liverpool.
