Liverpool’s pursuit of defensive reinforcements has hit a snag, as one of their reported targets, Frankfurt’s Willian Pacho, appears to be slipping through their fingers. The Ecuadorian defender is reportedly undergoing a medical with PSG and is set to sign a long-term contract that will keep him in Paris until 2029, according to Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg.
The Reds had been linked with Pacho, with The Independent’s Miguel Delaney noting the club’s interest as recently as last week. However, it seems Liverpool will need to look elsewhere for defensive options, especially with Newcastle United also making moves for Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi—a player Liverpool had reportedly inquired about earlier this year.
While Liverpool has yet to formalize their interest in Guehi, other potential targets could be on the table. Names like Sporting Lisbon’s Goncalo Inacio, Bayer Leverkusen’s Piero Hincapie, and Stade Rennais’ Arthur Theate are rumored to be on the radar.
With the transfer window still open, Liverpool’s recruitment team has ample time to explore these alternatives as they seek to bolster their defense for the upcoming season.
