Liverpool player wants to leave the club and join another UCL team

Liverpool’s summer transfer window has been notably quiet, leaving fans eagerly waiting for new signings to bolster the squad. The departure of Jurgen Klopp from Anfield has cast a shadow over the club, but new manager Arne Slot aims to turn things around.

This summer, the Reds have seen Thiago Alcantara, Joel Matip, and Adrian leave, but their replacements are yet to be secured. Despite speculation linking Liverpool with a big-money move for Newcastle United’s Anthony Gordon, it seems unlikely that any high-profile signings will materialize.

Adding to the potential exits, Liverpool defender Sepp van den Berg is reportedly seeking a move to PSV Eindhoven. According to Eindhovens Dagblad, the young defender is eager for more playing time, which he believes he won’t get at Anfield, and is looking to join the Dutch champions to further his career.

Van den Berg has impressed during pre-season under Slot, but with the abundance of defensive options available, consistent game time at Liverpool appears elusive. His previous loan spells at Mainz and Schalke have shown his development, and now he’s sensibly eyeing a permanent move away to gain regular playing time.

With Virgil Van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate, Joe Gomez, and Jarrel Quansah ahead of him in the pecking order, van den Berg’s chances of breaking into the first team are slim. A move to PSV would offer him the opportunity to play in the Champions League and continue his development in a familiar environment, which seems like the best step for his career progression.
