VIDEO | Brutal fight in the match of Chelsea vs Wrexham

In a recent friendly match against Wrexham, Chelsea’s pre-season preparations were marred by a heated incident involving James McClean and a Chelsea player. The altercation began when McClean’s late challenge on the England center-back in midfield sparked a brawl. Despite the tension, no red cards were issued.

Enzo Maresca, making his debut as Chelsea’s manager, saw his team draw 2-2 against Wrexham in a match that revealed the squad’s early-season fatigue. The game, held at Levi’s Stadium, also featured the debut of Marc Guiu for Chelsea. Christopher Nkunku and Lesley Ugochukwu scored for the Blues, while Luke Bolton and Marriott netted for Wrexham.

The friendly, intended to be a low-stakes encounter, quickly turned sour after Levi Colwill was tackled harshly by McClean. Reacting strongly, Colwill grabbed McClean by the chest, leading to a melee that involved several players from both sides. The referee stepped in to defuse the situation, and the clash did not result in any cautions.

Despite the early aggression, the match proceeded without further incidents. The draw offered a glimpse of Maresca’s strategies and highlighted areas for improvement as Chelsea continue their pre-season training.
