Fenerbahce has reportedly initiated discussions to secure a loan deal for Liverpool’s Darwin Nunez until the end of the season. Nunez, who joined Liverpool in 2022 for a club-record £85 million from Benfica, has had a mixed tenure at Anfield, scoring 33 goals in 96 appearances across all competitions.
Despite his contributions, including a Premier League goal every 108 minutes last season, he struggled with missed opportunities, impacting Liverpool’s title chase.
Jose Mourinho, the new manager at Fenerbahce, is keen on making Nunez his marquee signing. With Michy Batshuayi’s departure, Mourinho sees Nunez as the ideal replacement to bolster their attack. The Turkish club is conducting negotiations discreetly, aiming to finalize the deal through Nunez’s agent, Jorge Mendes.
If successful, this move could offer Nunez a fresh start and more consistent playing time, potentially revitalizing his career and providing Fenerbahce with the firepower they need for their campaign.
Liverpool, on the other hand, may view this as an opportunity for Nunez to gain more experience and confidence before a potential return.
